Nissan is a multinational automaker with headquarters in Japan. The company operates in more than 160 countries.
 

Nissan cars are built in Iran under license from Pars Khodro, which is majority-owned by fellow Iranian manufacturer, SAIPA.[1]  According to the Iran Vehicle Manufactures Association, Pars Khodro produced five models of cars and trucks in 2010 with a total production of more than 7,500 vehicles.[2]  Nissan openly acknowledges its operations in Iran.[3]  Nissan has earned classification as a "Worst Offender" as a result of its steadfast commitment to business in Iran and its partnership with automaker Renault, which has recently expanded operations in Iran and lists the country as one of its top ten markets.[4] 

In Fiscal Year 2011, the Nissan Company held 15 contracts valued at over $1.3 million with the US Department of Defense.[5]  In 2011, Nissan was also awarded a contract, valued at roughly $1 billion, from the City of New York for the production of taxis beginning in 2013.[6]  Nissan also received a $1.4 billion loan in 2011 to retrofit a Tennessee plant for building electric cars.[7]
